Board » Technical Support » Can't see maps and wind

Hi,
I know there are several posts already about this issue.
Sorry if this is just another one.
Here it is my details:
- Same laptop that I played SOL for months without any problems.
- Yesterday all of a sudden I log on SOL but saw no maps on the Gotland race.
- I can see maps, winds and my boat on the Leg 10 race.
- Running Win XP, ie8
- Even stranger is that it works when my laptop is hardwired connected to the internet at my office.
- It is not working on my house WiFi.
- I can log on all my usual web sites no problem, including some that requires Java.

Only thing different is that I updated to ie8. I think I have played SOL after the upgrade but I am not sure.
Also, I can play at my office desktop that has ie8.

What I did so far:
- clean the cache several times.
- checked if I have the latest Java. I do.

Help.
What else can I do ?

Thank you very much,
Antonio (Tuze1)

Hi Kalle,

"Are you behind a web proxy?"

I don't know. How can I check if I am?
But, I am using the same laptop that always worked.
It worked fine at my house WiFi, at cheap hotels WiFi's here in the US and at hotels during my trip to Holland.
Clear, something is probably changed but I can't figure it out. As I said the only change I can remember is the upgrade to IE8, but I also upgrade my office desktop and SOL is working there.
Any help from you welcome.
Thanks.

Kalle,

I don't think this is related to a proxy issue because I can get to the website, it just seems to be an issue with the graphics.
Update:

I went back to OSTAR and it worked fine, but the Gotland race still does not work.

Would it be possible that the "feed" from a particular race doesn't work ?
Although it does not explain why it works for everyone else and my other computer.

Antonio
Kalle,

Isn't this strange.
Now I can see the maps and everything on these 2 new races (Chicago-Mackinac race) and (St.Malo race).
Also no problems on the OSTAR.
But, for whatever reason my Laptop refused to show the maps/weather/boats on the Gotland race :(

Just for curiosity, how is it possible that the feed from one race only was not accepted by my computer?

Thanks,
Antonio
Hi Antonio,

Yes strange indeed, but I think its a browser cache thing.
If only one race and one machine has a problem it must be the computer or a proxy holding back new info.

Good to hear you have a working client for the other races.
I am a ex-admin of SOL who joins in from time to time.
