My boat got moved back to the starting line without any discernible reason. What gives? Did anyone else have the same problem?

Maybe because there are two boats with the name "vitorlas"…

All boats get "re-positioned" back to the "START" at one hour before the race begins.

You were possibly in "practice sailing" before then. (See Manual)


If it breaks, it's not strong enough!

No, none of the above. I was in position #203, getting close to New Foundland, when I logged off. I logged on about 10 hours later and found my boat back at Plymouth. I restarted the race because I am a sail junky, but I want to know what caused this anomaly, so that in the future it won't happen again - and whether other boats had experienced the same repositioning.

I think K3 is right, there are 2 boats named Vitorlas. One is currently in 250 place, just east of Newfoundland. The other is south of Ireland. I think you raced in the first boat, logged off and logged on again on the second boat. I think it best you e-mail Jakob at crew@sailport.se and ask your boat to be renamed and log on again with the new name after he's confirmed.

Bight of Bonny TIMED Race 2026

Starting in Douala, Cameroon the 170 nm course takes us around the island of Bioko with its Caldera and tropical rainforests finishing in Calabar, Nigeria. Natuna Sea Race 2026


At 4.0N 108.2E lies the island of Natuna Besar, Great Natuna, surrounded by at least 154 islands, of which 127 uninhabited, Indonesia’s Natuna Regency, and all around this archipelago, the Natuna Sea, bordered by Borneo to the east, the Java Sea to the south, and the Malay peninsula to the west, and extending north to cross a disputed international border with China into the South China Sea. And it’s a border that matters, there’s gas here! But why worry, let’s race – 2050nm in our goo’ol’ Open 60s in between the production platforms, prowling destroyers and submarines.
