Board » Sailonline Yacht Club » Comparing SailingOnLine with VirtualRegatta

Page: 1 2 3 4 Next

I'm a newby here, on SailingOnLine, and I like what I see. I sailed quite a few legs in the recent VORG and really liked VirtualRegatta's software engine. I wonder how many sailors here have had experience on both platforms, and how they would compare the two?
I have sailed in VORG and Virtual Regatta Vendee Globe. So I can say that Sailonline is much better.
LT
I am still at virtual regattas but these are more complete.I just hope it will not overflow the robot sailing like in virtual, even if I noticed that some of top positions sailors are using robots, which is not fair.
I did all the legs in VORG on Virtual Regatta (81st overall). Sailing in wind squares and tracing corners between them is nowhere near the realism of SOL, which I consider to be state of the art. I am hoping the next VOR will be available on this platform.
Lars, your cred is far, far greater than mine. I like the feel of Virtual Regatta. But I'll definitely try SOL some more. Maybe this last race was not representative: too much of a free leg exercise...
VORG made may of us puke....
Because.....?
I Like SOL because they treat non SYC members fairly.

i.e. your boat's performance is not dependent on how much money you spend.

Curious.
I like this discussion since it may lead to constructive feedback and thus improvements. Just bring it on :-)

Tobruk to Iskenderun 2026

Welcome to the fourth of our nine races across the length and breadth of the Magical Mediterranean Sea, and the second that is not in partnership with a real-life event, this time for good reason, which we won’t get into here. From Tobruk to Iskenderun it’s 670nm in length, with the added complication that the island of Cyprus will be in your way. Hoping, possibly forlornly, for plenty of downwind sailing, we’ll take the Lagoon 55 for the voyage!

Tasmania to Kamchatka 2026

Welcome to yet another all-new route. Tasmania to Kamchatka, part of our Ocean Championship and also the third leg of the ROW (Round the Old World) series. Be aware of the obstacles on the way, likely to split the fleet. It's like X:mas to X:mas, crossing the same waters, navigating the same archipelagos. This second race of OCQ2 2026 will be sailed in our revised 'version 2' Imoca 60 Foil. Race #2031
