Dear all,

Over the last few weeks, we have not been able to run as many of your race proposals as we would like. There have been some real races to run, the problem with the first Zilt, some overload, etc.

Furthermore, the race committee assumes that it is more difficult for a majority of SOLers to participate in week races than in week-end races. As a consequence, the race committee is a bit reluctant to field a race that has been proposed by one of you as a week race, as we like the person who has proposed the race to enjoy participating in his own race.

The consequence is that we tend to rerun existing races as week races, and that there is a bit of a jam in scheduling your race proposals as week-end races.

Thus, something that would really help the race committee schedule your race proposals more rapidly would be for those of you who have proposed a race that could fit either as a week race or as a week-end race, and for whom running the proposed race as a week race would be fine, to come forward.

The race committee will probably be able to schedule these races relatively rapidly.

This is of course not the case for those of you who have proposed ocean races. Drag races are also not so easy to schedule, but for altogether different reasons.

Regata dell’Accademia Navale 2026

Welcome to Sailonline’s partnership with the City of Livorno (Leghorn say the English) in cooperation with the local yacht clubs and the Italian Navy, offering all the online opportunity to race the famous Regata dell’Accademia Navale - 630nm in length. Starting and finishing in Livorno, this year the race takes you the length and breadth of the Tyrrhenian Sea via little Mortorio (Mortoriotto) off Sardinia to Capri and home again to Livorno. This race also counts towards Sailonline’s Magical Mediterranean Series and the SuperBuddy title. Online, you will be sailing a Mini 6.50, to give you a match against several of the real-life entrants, which you will be able to track on-screen!

Rommel by Balloon 2026 - Through the Sahara


Generalfeldmarschall Johannes Erwin Eugen Rommel may have been that chivalrous, gallant tank commander of legend, led astray by the Prussian military traditions of loyalty and chain of command, but one thing he wasn’t, was mad. So, let’s do it anyway – not stick to the coast and the battle for logistical superiority – but depart the oases of Siwa south west into the desert for Agadez and its uranium.
