SAILING INSTRUCTIONS SYCC Leg 2:
Miami, Florida to Kingstown, St Vincent.

RACE AREA: Caribbean Sea, North Atlantic.

BOATS: Volvo 70 Class only.

START: Saturday, September 13th 18:00 UTC at Miami.
Start line laid between anchored committee boat and large orange buoy 25.800N / 80.100W approximately 1 to 1.5 nm due EAST of Miami Beach.

COURSE:
Starting from NORTH WEST to SOUTH EAST,
through the Bahamas,
to Finish From NORTH WEST to SOUTH EAST offshore of Kingstown Harbour entrance, 1,300nm approximately. Islands encountered may be passed on either side.

FINISH: between Committee Boat and large orange buoy, 13.200N / 61.300W approximately 1nm due WEST of island headland.

CAUTIONS:
All positions given are approximate and in the format displayed by race client program.
Correct large scale charts must be used.
Hurricanes may be encountered at any time. Many islands are available for shelter if required.
There are no special fairway marks or obstructions.

MOORINGS: proceed to Blue Lagoon Bay.

PRIZES:
Cajun Queen T-Shirt for 1st, 2nd and 3rd to finish.
Mt Gay Rum for first “Kiwi” yacht to finish.
Other prizes may be announced.

T-SHIRTS: Send an email to info@cajunqueeneurope.com with size of your T-Shirt and full address. Sizes are S, M, L, XL and there are female shirts as well.

PRIZE GIVING: At the film set of “Pirates of the Caribbean” near Layou 13.200N / 61.266W the day after 60% of the fleet have arrived, but will be subject to confirmation. Yachts may raft up to 4 specially laid mooring buoys.
If it breaks, it's not strong enough!

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu


The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
