Good morning all

Quick question, and I'm pretty sure of the answer, just wanted to check. Can SOL be played on an iphone?
I'm afraid not Baggus at least not at this time.

The race window is completely flash based and support for this on IOS devices is lacking. We have not had the time or resources to develop a custom version for this so far.

Greetings Jeroen
I am a ex-admin of SOL who joins in from time to time.
Thanks for that Jeroen - you just saved me a few $$$$ :-)
It is possible.

I'm using my iPhone to connect remotely to my laptop through a free download called TeamViewer. This way you can control your boat from your iPhone across WIFI/3G access points.

The setup is quite easy. All you have to do is leave your PC running when you leave home.
I will try that from my HTC - it has flash but is virtually impossible to control your boat. Not that anyone would notice with my courses.

I use logmein, which has a free trial period.
I have managed to find a working solution to use the native SOL interface on the iphone.

Install a browser app call Puffin, which is only 99c in the AppStore. Using that you can login, view and make changes to your boat. You can zoom in and out, look at the weather forcast and plot courses by touching the screen.

One of the icons at the bottom will allow you to switch to 'drag' mode so you can move around the chart or the 'keyboard' mode so you can enter data.

It works really well on both the iPhone and iPad, and has now allowed me to leave the house for longer periods when races are on!

Richard

Will this work without your laptop/PC being turned on at home?
Doesn't look like it works on Android.
Yes it is stand alone. Just watch you data useage if you are not on wifi as it reloads just like the normal browser.

I am not an android user so do not know of the best solution for that, sorry.
I can confirm that the Puffin browser app works exceptionally well with the SOL/iPhone combination.

Thanks to TuuleTallaja who found this link to the download:

Christmas to Christmas Island 2025

Two waypoints, start and finish, and between them 5827 NM of two oceans. Not much time if we want to sit at the Christmas Eve table. You will need to maintain an average speed of over 10 knots, maybe quite possible with this Maxi Trimaran, but prepare your vessel well and choose the best of the many possible routes. Hands up everyone who knew there were TWO Christmas Islands?! OK, maybe you have sailed this Sailonline course before... but it's time to get ready for the 2025 challenge of racing between Christmas Island in the Pacific to Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean! It also marks the conclusion of our prestigious Ocean Race Championship 2025. Please have fun! Fair winds!

Andaman Islands PYOC 2025

The Andaman Islands are an archipelago, made up of 200 islands, in the northeastern Indian Ocean. Together with the Nicobar Islands to their south, the Andamans serve as a maritime boundary between the Bay of Bengal to the west and the Andaman Sea to the east. These waters will be the theater of our next 240nm race in the ARCH 2025 series. Which one you choose depends only on you, i.e. your Elan 410 sport will leave the Andaman Islands on the starboard or port side.

Sinbad by Balloon 2025 - Carnarvon to Dondra

From here, our home in Bharatavarṣa is now north west of us – said Sinbad to his fellow balloonists. Perhaps we can ride the wind first further north, and then catch the winds that every year bring the rain, perhaps not. It’s 2600nm and we could be aloft awhile, so, Master el-Quarters, victuals only, no sandbags, provisioning the giant hamper. It will be not a picnic!
