I was introduced to SOL by NEWSARTIST...still my number one mentor, but quickly learned who to watch, Agage was always on my radar. News still tells me don't sail follow the leader style, but sailing in Agage's wake allowed me to learn many things about wind and sailing.
When Beta was introduced my favorite feature was creating boat lists. Agage was always on that list....To Aaron's family: I LOVE SOL because of Agage!!!!

    GHOST SHIP ICON???

While sailing in "BETA" in the BMW Black Sea Virtual Race 2012 - Leg 2

I see two icons representing my boat.

    1. a pinkish color boat icon & wake like I always have seen. but

    2. right behind it is a brown colored boat icon & wake ( I logged on as SOL on another PC to check and sure enough
    that was me.

The first Icon will advance with each update and then the second Icon will catch up ... sometimes the first boat icon will advance two times adding more distance between the two boat icons but then the trailing boat icon will catch up.

This seemes like it could be a problem when rounding marks... which boat Icon do I use??? I am sailing S.O.P. so my tacks are visual and not coordinate driven.

In my short adventure so far with the wonders of SOL I've witnessed some pretty creative things come out of pratice sailing, as for this "fort" my sails are still green. **practice 2 learn** Thank you for checking my wake in the Perth ISAF Fleet Race Practice.
It was a situation I had yet to see and since I just started to explore BETA SOL I thought I'd bring it up.

    My ships log went overboard...uggg
I'm not sure what time I passed the mark
But Friday around that time could very well put me within a reboot.

    Thank You again.

When I sailed north again and rounded the mark this time it changed to "rounded" even during practice sailing. So my mystery of why I didn't round it the first time still stands???
  • Re: 5 Feb Client is BACK! - available as a 'Beta'
    Board » Technical Support
Do you mean to say that it still shows as 'Leave to Port' ??
That is because mark roundings are only scored in the real race.
The other client version will be the same

Once again as I sail south... my DTF is increaseing. wouldn't this suggest that I didn't round the mark? Other boats on the same heading are decreasing DTF.

Thanks Aaron, Your work is outstanding!!!!

I was concerned as I sailed south past the mark that my boat position(in the standings) was climbing and I was losing positions. That is what made me think I hadn't rounded the mark and then as I sailed north back toward the mark my boat position started to drop again.

    Thanks again for your help.

Can you look at my wake and tell me why the "Two Rock" mark in the "Perth ISAF Fleet Race" practice sailing was Not rounded. If I zoom in it seems like I met my "port requirements... is this a problem with the beta client???

Red Eye - Key Lime Pie-gatta 2025

Opposite the Bahamas at the tip of the Florida peninsula, we find the Florida Keys, a honky-tonk arpeggio of islands, where another SOL classic, the Key Lime Pie-gatta, so-called after the famous local condensed-milk-based tart speciality, awaits to be navigated once again. We’ll race its “Red Eye” 180nm in very-American Santa Cruz 52s, ignoring such artefacts as bridges, causeways and piers joining the keys one to the other and to the mainland!

Sail Around Turkey 2025

Welcome to the 11th running of one of Sailonline's most iconic races, where our fleet races the length of the Turkish coastline from Hopa (the easternmost harbour on Turkey’s Black Sea coast) to Iskenderun (the easternmost harbour on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast). It’s a 1,372nm race and aboard our classic, 1st decade of the 21st Century, version 2 IMOCA 60, you should be able to get around the course in less than a week. That is if, of course, once you get out of the Black Sea you don’t stop to enjoy the sights or a BBQ or two in the Golden Horn, or on the Marble Islands, now land-locked Troy or Gallipoli or any of the myriad Aegean islands, that you shall have to carefully navigate past.
