I hadn't seen this discussion until Tyger pointed me to it. We have America 2 and Lionheart (87 and 80 campaigns respectively) based in Greenwich, Western Long Island Sound. I will be seeing one of the guys involved with running the program for these boats this Saturday and will make some more inquiries. I know they do match racing when they can fill the boats. Details to follow. Photo of the boats attached.

What an exciting and ambitious idea!
I'd like to throw my hat in the ring. Do you want applications, experience etc on the thread here or sent to you by email ?

I just can't believe this awful news. I cannot better the very eloquent tributes to Aaron, only add that it is the selfless people who get involved with community projects who make life so much better for the rest of us. This is a very sobering reminder that we need to let those people know how much we appreciate them while they can hear it.
My deepest, deepest condolences to Aaron's family. He will be sorely missed, but all his work on our behalf will be long remembered.

  • Re: ranking issues
    Board » General Discussion
I would like to second Paul's suggestion that there be a way to view the races before deciding to enter. I do not have enough time to commit to all races but if I want to view the race course and the weather patterns in order to make the decision which ones to enter I have to enter the race.
Personally I prefer the long distance races as family commitments and the intensity of the short races makes them hard to do well. Consequently my ranking doesn't seem to improve.
Could there be rankings for different classes of races (Long vs Short) or would this just create too many levels of complexity? Tony.

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
