Hi all,
In view of the delayed start in NZ for the VRTW race will our start remain as scheduled or be delayed at all?
Thank you
Tim (Pocket Rocket)
At 16:03 Go4iT said in SWR chat:
On behalf of SRC I confirm that the scheduled start time of 0100Z on 15th March has been postponed for at least 24 hours. The revised start time will be decided around 1200Z on 13/3 and posted ASAP.
Many thanks indeed for such a quick update. I will keep an eye as always on the site.
Thanks again
BR
Tim (PR)
Looks like a further start delay out to Tuesday.

SRC has determined that the postponed start of leg 5 of SWR will take place at the new location, NW of Rangitoto Island, at 0100Z Tuesday 17th March 2015. This is a final decision.
3. POSTPONED START
Although the scheduled start time is 1400 Sunday 15th March the start shall be postponed until 0900 Wednesday 18th March.

It appears that we are starting despite the new postponement of the IRL race. I am in total disagreement with this decision as it makes incomprehensible the first postponement. Hope that the SRC can reconsider and delay the start accordingly.
Hi ALL ;)

a couple of days ago we at SRC announced a delay in start of Leg 5 , and that the new start would be final . That announcement was placed here on my behalf .

Today we have a solid opportunity to make a real start definite and possible , and therefore would like to bring such advantage to the entire SOL fleet .

I of course apologise for change of opinion , and reassure you that this has been done in observance of the minimum 24 hours notice rule.( actually 27 before new start )

Talking about taking the blaim , it goes without saying that this decision has nothing to do with satisfying ONE SOLer , nor with making better start time for Europeans ...That is out of question !!! ;)

Oceans in SOL are prime spot , and deserve prime attention . I will be very careful in future not to state anything as definitive ( just in case )

Ciao ALL ;)

My view:
The SOL management has made the proper decision and reacted to IRL Changes. There is no reason to put blaim anywhere, except maybe PAM :)
I agree with svein. And also with Rod at 16:15 on chat today 16th March 2015 where he said "As I have said and hoped, many times, SOL is not supposed to be an "arcade game", but is intended as a simulation of ocean racing navigation reality."
So - way to go SOL management! - ;-)

Mistli's Birthday BBQ Race 2024

Welcome to one of Sailonline's great traditions - the generally slightly untimely celebration of SOLer Mistli's birthday on November 1, by way of a tricky race through the Stockholm Archipelago. As always, we are providing you with a fleet of speedy Seacarts to slice through these (at least) 61.5nm of SLI-infested waters, to give you a fair chance that there will still be some beer left by the landlubbers who have descended early to the campfire by the jetty at Trosa!
