thanks for that kalle and for your interest and follow-up. Have looked at that link, but have no idea what to do with the info. Off to bed soon, will worry about it tomorrow.
You need to put 2 addresses into your HOSTS file which on Windows systems is located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and on Linux in the etc\ directory. These addresses are:

IP address host
62.181.230.173 race.sailport.se
62.181.230.171 www.sailonline.org

There is a catch, if ever Sailonline is assigned new IP addresses, your browser won't be able to find them.

Still nothing, I give up. I am no IT guru so back to VR for me. Sorry, but waste of a week.
One more thing: whenever you've made changes to your hosts file, you'll need to restart your browser to make the change take effect.

Squall: The incorrect zone file from was pushed with a "time to live" of 24 hours, so all name servers should be re-updated about 20:00 UTC with the correct information.

I am still unable to get it working after 16 hours of not seeing my boat. As far as I am concerned the race should be cancelled as it is no longer a fair race.
I had access at home this am but at work now and I can't get into the race. Is there a problem again or is just something at my end? I'm in the USA and on a Mac (so the PC suggestion was not helpful).

There's a hosts file on OS X as well, in the /private/etc directory. See http://support.apple.com/kb/TA27291 for details.
1) It can take up to 24 hours (counted from approx 20.30 UTC yesterday) for the issues to resolve, depending on your ISP. Please see previous link for official information.

2) This is an error outside of our control which affected all .se domains. Please see previous link for official information.

3) We will not cancel Poor Man's Race. These things happen and over time the advantages/disadvantages will even out.

4) If you edit your hosts file, I recommend you remove the information when the issues are resolved since it can cause you trouble in the future if we move our servers.

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
