Looks great Kalle!

Chompo and I gave them a good workout at Schouten Island and I think everyone will be _very_ pleased with the upgrade.

The side effect of doing away with the double rounding arrows is an improvement in itself! One question from the SRC: how will the server resolve the 180deg case so we can add this info to race planning guidelines and race descriptions? Default marks to port/stb etc?

Did you really? Without having tested it I am under the impression one could still sail onto the mark the correct way until "Rounded" and then turn 180° and continue the course.

Philip

Schakel, no, the new rules enforces proper rounding of marks, in the direction indicated. The old style of just registering a rounding by passing above the wp and then turning back won't work - when you turn back the "next waypoint" will change back again with the new system.
75T, regarding the 180 deg case, you need to ask Jakob how the direction is calculated..... :)
Thanks for clearing that up, Kalle.

Philip
The system should work with the 180 deg turns. The server then chooses a direction. To be frank we need some final testing of that to see that the client and the server agrees on the rounding direction. :-) Thanks for caring, testing and reporting!!

Truly excellent! This game should reward those who discover the best strategy over those who can beat the loopholes of the game. Changes like this, and the timely implementation of it are a credit to the SOL developers.
Thanks Kalle and Jakob. Impressive performance again :-))
I love the way you choose what is important and what can wait ;-)

Thanks :-)

..........

There are no loopholes if nobody is beating a loophole - so lopphole beaters feel encourage to chase one or two or more ;-)

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
