OK, thanks. It's cool. I thought perhaps it was my mac settings or something. No worries :)
Thanks Agage, excellent work again!

There is only one thing: The wind slider takes away another part of the screen - I have to play on a netbook often and there the space is very limited, specially down there. One problem: I cannot set a waypoint in this area - so even more scrolling. How's about placing the information (speed etc) on the left hand side under the other icons?

thanks

Stu

Alt-Click (Option-Click on Mac) will toggle Hide/Show Wx slider.
None so blind
Actually it is a little deceptive, but there is now *more* space available to the map, than with the old placement of the wx slider... Which, in fact, was entirely the motivation for moving it...
If you open 2 instances of a race, and switch one to the beta you will see what I mean. The top of the new wx slider is actually *lower* in the beta client than the top of the instruments in the older client.
Not to mention SYC members can also close the advertisements for even more space ;-)

And yes, as A2R points out, the Wx slider can also be hidden for more map space.

I assume you are talking about using the ruler tool here?
1 tip for long lines, or small screens, is to make your initial 'start of line' mark, and then zoom out before dragging the map to make the 2nd (and any subsequent points). This is particularly easy with the availability to use mouse wheel to zoom the map (and SHIFT-wheel to zoom faster)

For zoom:
You can also use the "scroll edge" on the right of the scratch pad same as scroll wheel. :-)

Does anyone else find the new client very jerky in dragging and zooming? I also find that clicking on the steer tool has to be done several times before the butterfly appears. The old client has none of these problems---also none of the advantages, either.
If it breaks, it's not strong enough--if it doesn't, it's too heavy.
At what setting do you have the 'Wx contours' Rod?

That is the only thing that I have noticed can make map drag/zoom less smooth... In fact I optimised quite a lot of code so that, at the same contour res as the old client (lowest) it is quite a bit smoother to pan & zoom.

Nothing at all changed with the double click of steer tool, other than what is rendered when in that 'mode', so the actual double click itself should not be any different.

You are right---but why should the wind resolution affect the steer tool click? It does---very markedly....

@ Aron: A2R's hint about the shortcut made it. I am now totally satisfied :) Thanks

@Rod: Scolling & dragging is just fine here.

Seems like all is running smoothly with the new client. Everyone seems to be able to use it now, and there are no reports of bugs (right?). Maybe it is time to move out of beta and run it as the main loading client.
I so move.

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
