    2026 CERTIFICATES SCHEME MECHANICALS AND SITUATION YTD

    Please find hereunder the mechanicals that regulate the annual certificate scheme (there is no change for 2026).

    At the end of each month in 2026 a file illustrating the up to date situation will be posted here.

    If anyone skipper sees a note for contacting the SOL Management alongside his/her boat's name, it means that we are missing some data to fill the certificate. Please contact as advertised as soon as possible.
    Usually at the end of each year a number of SOLers have not yet provided the data to fulfill the certificate (skipper name and surname and confirmation of flag and email address for delivery). Every effort is made to make sure that everyone gets his/her annual certificate, but we need your early cooperation.

    The Rankings by Nation (INDIVIDUAL) will continue in 2026 with no change vs previous years.

    The Rankings by Nation thread remains here in the SYC partition of the Forum because it is traditionally where SOLers look for it.

    Attached underneath you find 2 DOCUMENTS:

    One illustrates the mechanicals of the rankings scheme; the other one illustrates the mechanicals that will lead to reward the individual SOLers.

    At the end of each calendar month an up to date situation will be posted here for everyone to look at and plan improvements !

    Please feel free to comment or ask for any clarification writing to coord@sailonline.org

    I will publish here for everyone information the most important comments and clarification requests.

    2026 CHAMPIONSHIPS NORs

    The Sailonline Management is pleased to announce

    THE 2026 SOL CHAMPIONSHIP NORs
    ________________________________________

    There will be significant changes, new entries and drop offs.They are all explained here:

    Three out of the four traditional annual Championships will continue without change to format (annual and quarterly). They are

    Ocean Championship – Timed Championship – Sprint Championship

    The All Round and the Supersoler Championships are discontinued from 2026.

    A new SuperBuddy Championship will be run in 2026. This series will include all the Buddied races that SOL operates in conjunction and mirroring IRL events at the four corners of the world. This new Championship is technically described hereunder, and will NOT include quarterly series.

    Each boat finishing on the podium in a Championship race will receive a virtual medal (Gold - Silver and Bronze) on a certificate sent by email, and the winner of each Quarterly Championship (12 in total) will continue to receive the exclusive plaque, whilst the second and third on podium will receive by email a virtual Silver or Bronze medal.

    In a nutshell :

    OCEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2026
    Annual Championship
    12 races (one each month) - 2 discards
    Quarterly Championships (4)
    the 3 races of each quarter - NO discards

    TIMED CHAMPIONSHIP 2026
    Annual Championship
    12 races (three each quarter) - 2 discards
    Quarterly Championships (4)
    the 3 races of each quarter - NO discards

    SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP 2026
    Annual Championship
    12 races (three each quarter) - 2 discards

    SPECIAL SERIES – 2026

    Hi SOLers !!

    In 2026 there will be again a number of Special Series , all very interesting and challenging.

    A good description has been posted in homepage blog.

    You will find the list hereunder (not necessarily in chronological order)

    In accordance with the policy regarding physical and VIRTUAL prizes (medals) the following general rule will apply :

    1 – Series with up to 3 races = VIRTUAL MEDALS for podium and Award certificates for top 10

    2 – Series with 4 or 5 races = GOLD physical medal for Winner; VIRTUAL MEDALS for second and third and Award certificates for top 10

    3 – Series with 6 or more races = Physical medals for the podium three and Award certificates for top 20

    Once a Series is completed do not forget to look at the podium that will be published in the thread underneath !

    Very very sorry to hear that Dale had to abandon ship……….

    True he was not “chatty”……totally wrong dear Bruce …that he was “rarely competitive”.

    I remember sending over to him quite a great number of certificates for top 10 and top 20 in Championships and series. He was VERY competitive in Sprint races, where it was a very good idea to always keep an eye on him.

    A respected competitor and a long-established member of the Sailonline Community.

    His presence and weight in Sailonline’s Community history is not going to be forgotten.

Red Eye - Melville Island PYOC 2026

Melville Island is the largest of the Tivi group opposite the port of Darwin in the Timor Sea. Tropically forested and thinly populated, not a lot goes on there, but let’s race around it anyway, lar- or starboard round, it’s a little more than 120nm, so, no matter where you are navigating from on the planet, you will be hard-pressed to complete the course aboard your J-80 in daylight hours!

Cross the Convergence 2026 - Guam to Ouvéa


The third race of our series of ocean voyages across the World’s convergence zones takes us southeastward now down the Pacific, from Guam’s Apra Harbour at 13.5 degrees North, back across the Equator to the glorious New Caledonian resort island of Ouvéa, on the edge of the Tropic of Capricorn at 20.5 degrees South. It’s 2400nm, and there’s more than a few other islands in the way, so mind where you go in your Ocean 50s. Race #1981

Lake Victoria TIMED Race 2026

This month’s TIMED race takes us inland to Lake Victoria in the heart of Africa. Starting at Rosebery Channel in Uganda sail the AC72v2 on a 196nm course around Bugala Island on the way to the finish line in Tanzania’s Speke Gulf. This is a TIMEDrace so you may RE-REGISTER HEREto try again after finishing a run. You will have 13 days and 11 hours to test your skill and decision making after the race opens.
