Aaron, You and your passion are missed. Winning legs at A3 series was quite emotional for me.

You great legacy to SOL will last.
  • Re: BALTIC WX UPDATES

I prefer to stay with Baltic 12 hour forecast. Bigger differences between weather after 12 hours make it interesting. It would be pleasant to have weather delivery on time. Pity that time of weather delivery is out of SOL hands.

Small addition: some boats went north even after rounded Sri Lanka wide.

.. The boats furthest north were in the pack close to Sri Lanka..

RainbowChaser please do not suggest anything more demanding for your admin work (such as setting reminder to add NOR link ). Keep it simple. Publish NOR link with race.

+1 to any notification of quite rare NOR changes.

    My suggestion:
Highlighted alert should be added just under race name in race info in case of NOR change. Something like "NOR changed at YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM UTC".
  • Re: Mark rounding
    Board » General Discussion
    Believe me or not:
I did not have intention to brake any known rule.
I was at lead at the mark and just one boat was within striking distance. My move (within SOL rules and outside ISAF) did not help me past any boat.

If you believe, that while being in the lead I broke unwritten rule from IRL race sailing intentionally and dishonest myself within SOL community for just another win, feel free to judge.

Thank You for education about ISAF rules. I will apply ISAF rule for my future rounding whether will be enforced by server or not.

I would like this kind of incident and personal suicide could not happen to others in future and their learning curve would be much easier than my. To eliminate future incidents we should appreciate value of 76Trombones input to this case.
It should be helpful update code for mark rounding (as stated) as I believe automatic rule enforcing is necessary. Because solving protest by committee would waste time of all participants. This time should be used for much useful thing (such as development of SOL :-) ). Another step is to update rules in manual.
Until rules enforcement will be updated, it should be helpful setup races with knowledge of current limits of server code.

    Best regards

As I said earlier in the chat:

"I am apologize for die hard sailors, but my move was within rules of SOL."

    "From manual and game behavior:
I have a understanding, that rounding rule is when accessing mark. So when mark is marked as rounded, you can deal with next mark."

Hope my move, which was forced by defending position within SOL rules, will help to advance SOL rule closer IRL rules. So people who never sailed race, as me, can be educated about IRL sailing racing rules.

Thanks to All who tried to understand SOL rules and published their opinion that my move was legal.

    Thanks to bushing All others.

    Have a great time IRL.

    From my observation:
Server troubles were at 22.6.2011from at least 0:50 to 2:00 UTC.
Web client did not download. Mobile client worked (without map) and Brainaid site was able to update navigation data and fire DC.

At 3:30 UTC (may be sooner) Web client downloaded correctly.

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
