Hello... No don't know what solved it, but I suspect it was the Cape Town server timing out or something. Now in Hamble and all seems perfect. I expect the internet in Cochin will be a shocker though!

One thing is that the UTC is 8 hours off on my screen. Anybody else have this anomaly??
Do you have the correct time AND timezone set on your computer?
You are a genius! (I did not have the time zone set correctly)

I have been trying to join SYC but it does not like my Spanish Bancaja visa electron card. I'll have to find a different way to contribute... maybe give you some cash in Stockholm next June.
I appear to have the same problems (but not the same result in the end!) as Conyo. I am based in South Africa, and when I "Go to Race" I get a blank waiting for weather, but no charts, boats, nothing. Tried using both Firefox & Google Chrome, but with the same results. Any ideas welcomed!
make it 3 , all based in South Africa. Must be a local block or something. Tried all 3 browsers, cleared cache Etc Etc, adjusted OpenGL, but with 3 of us, must be local!
Damn!! Could this be yet another SA connectivity issue?? We really need to have some competition in our IT / telecommunications market...
First attempt after previous post got me a bit further.. 1st time since shortly after the start. The weather and other bits seem to load from "race.sailport.se", which I have pinged with no loss, although a slowish 460ms ping, a number of times, specifically whilst the page was appearing to load from there, but not loading. I haven't seen boats or weather, but have seen land and rhumb line twice. Roll on Seacom!
Hi there, I wish I could help but I have no bright ideas for you at the moment. Maybe Kalle has some suggestions to get you on track.
I think you're problem is indeed local filtering or proxy related.

Hi guys, could you please email me kalle@sailport.se - I can then have a list of you for testing solutions for this when I have some dev time to spend on it.
Just logged in with a 3G modem (cell/mobile), and no problems at all. Seems Telkom uses a web proxy for its ADSL.

Thanks to Kalle for pinpointing this.

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
