Whoooop: I see your very new here. A previous race, Sydney to Hobart with detour, was most interesting when the weather split the then evenly spread fleet into two very distinct divisions, seperated for the rest of the race by about 2 days from memory.
If it breaks, it's not strong enough!
Hi Guy's, I'm new to this aswell. Personally, we need more races from the around the world, so maybe we need a "sign-up a friend" campaign.

The greater the numbers racing (joined up) the increased funds that will support the ongoing development, and thus the increased oportunity to cut the competition any which way you want.

Personally and country/continent/regional comp would be great, only issue that I've noted, even if you combined the Kiwi's and us Ausies, we still couldn't compete against the vast numbers of common countrites.

So when we have 2000 - 3000 - 4000 on the start line, coooooool and then we might have an issue to address.

Anyway, can't stop now, we're trying to line up the finish line...

Happy racing
Great ideas! We work as hard as we can developing, setting up "in-port" races, next legs etc. Could one imagine a community-driven recruiting-a-friend-campain? ;-) Also, the country-challenges you are talking about is great. We need to ask Wiz (who is doing the ranking pages) to set it up.
...one of the guys behind the game...
I suggest having switches where you can:
-switch off all boats
-have top 5/10/100/200 etc.
-Or a % of the fleet sampled across the board to give an idea where the fleet is without clutter
-a friends list

Just some ideas
Take it "ESEA" go sailing
Perhaps showing only the boats on your page of the leaderboard is another option; or +\- 50 positions from you => the ones to overtake and the ones to keep ahead of, if possible!
If it breaks, it's not strong enough!

Tall Ships Races 2025 - Le Havre to Dunkirk

Welcome to the first of four virtual Tall Ships Races in European waters which are concurrently being organized in-real-life by Sail Training International . The course for this first race is between the French ports of Le Havre and Dunkirk; circa 125nm in Sailonline’s magnificent 90m Barque.
NOTE: Starts and Finishes in tall ships racing are always offshore to avoid conflict with shipping and shipping lanes; online and real-life may not match exactly.

Red Eye - Key Lime Pie-gatta 2025

Opposite the Bahamas at the tip of the Florida peninsula, we find the Florida Keys, a honky-tonk arpeggio of islands, where another SOL classic, the Key Lime Pie-gatta, so-called after the famous local condensed-milk-based tart speciality, awaits to be navigated once again. We’ll race its “Red Eye” 180nm in very-American Santa Cruz 52s, ignoring such artefacts as bridges, causeways and piers joining the keys one to the other and to the mainland!

Sail Around Turkey 2025

Welcome to the 11th running of one of Sailonline's most iconic races, where our fleet races the length of the Turkish coastline from Hopa (the easternmost harbour on Turkey’s Black Sea coast) to Iskenderun (the easternmost harbour on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast). It’s a 1,372nm race and aboard our classic, 1st decade of the 21st Century, version 2 IMOCA 60, you should be able to get around the course in less than a week. That is if, of course, once you get out of the Black Sea you don’t stop to enjoy the sights or a BBQ or two in the Golden Horn, or on the Marble Islands, now land-locked Troy or Gallipoli or any of the myriad Aegean islands, that you shall have to carefully navigate past.
