Hi maitai,

Thank you for your clarification. I forget that Qt can be used on a phone/tablet. It makes sense to me now the need for "Best performance" mode.
Excellent work.

Zoe
Please find attached zip which demonstrates the behaviour. The zip file contain two snapshots showing the routing generated from the pathway with the malformed isochrons, and the other directly to the target waypoint. I've also included the grib file and the other files I think you need to reproduce. Please let me know if you need any other data.

Hello,
The problem arises because you ask to route from boat and your first pathway point is already at the boat position. I'll fix that but in the mean time in that case please route from 1st mark in pathway.
There appears to be an issue with the xml header in the GPX export generated by Route Export which I think is causing the strict Java xml parsing to fail. It has to do with the syntax of the version. I've included two sample files of the same route. One that parses, and the other that does not. Is it possible to change the header to suit the version that works? Thanks

Ok, I'll change that
Hi,

In "Boat settings", "Tacks and Gybes";
What does it means "... during __ cranks"?

What is "cranks"?, and how many cranks do you guys usually use?

I tend to set Gybes at "90% of polar speed", but I don't understand how to set the "cranks".

Merci beaucoup,
Antonio
"Crank" is the internal step qtVlm is using. By default it is 5 minutes. You can change that but be sure you know what you are doing ;)

So let's say you don't change the default crank value, if you input 90% for 3 cranks it means the boat will use 90% of the polar for 15 minutes, and most importantly that tacking and gybing again will be forbidden during 15 minutes.
Perfect! Mercy.
Hi Guys,
I've noticed that special characters in waypoint names prevent them from being loaded when sent via NMEA. The waypoint name "Tróia Peninsula" does not load. NMEA sentence copied from qtVlm is below.

$GPWPL,3829.610,N,00854.894,W,Tria Peninsula*F8

Similarly, the attached gpx does not load either. I remove the special characters from Setúbal, Tróia and Póvoa and it all works fine. Both files attached.

Cheers
Andrew

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
