Not sure if this is any real problem, but the qtVlm map for the 'Return from Lindisfarne' race is only showing Finish A and Finish B and not showing Göteborg! The SOL race map is showing Göteborg!
|
|
Posted by Go4iT |
|
The easy solution is to insert a new mark called Göteborg in the desired location which I have done in my qtVlm. But why was it not there to start with is my question.

Probably NMEA does not like "ö" and similar strange characters
|
|
Posted by Kipper1258 |

Correct. NMEA standard only allows the standard ASCII set. The extended character set is not supported. This has been raised before with the SOL race constructors not to use the extended character set in waypoint names, as they are not supported.

Sorry for possibly stuoid question
How do I get a Brainaid DC eatable format out of QTVLM Rout Export ? Tried several times.... TKS 2 ALL |
|
Posted by Kipper1258 |
|
I've released a new version of AGL (3.2.1) that remaps the extended ASCII set to the standard ASCII set. This version will fix the problem permanently.

find kroppyer sailonline tools.
http://sol.kroppyer.nl/ On the left side you find QtVLM route converter Click on it and see what you can do with that. Alternatively find a good text-editor into which you load your .csv file. Delete all the columns you do not need. first column will be date (dd/mm/yyyy or mm/dd/yyyy format). The values here you have to change to brainaids format (yyyy/mm/dd) Some pasting together date and course is the next step If in the editor you can make a little program/macro, that would be quit helpfull to accomplish this whole transformation. Lacsareno And to be precise: In QTVLM you go to Routes>Edit route-> choose routing# you want to edit. click on <Route logbook> and wait till the "Route logbook" is on screen. Now click on <Eport (CSV format)> --- Last Edited by sol at 2019-12-04 15:23:57 --- |

Hi there. Trying to do the whole routing thing only on an ipad. I'm almost there but it's so long since I've done this I've forgotten one thing. Can someone fill me in please...is Andrew's (kipper's) programme the only place to source the race marks file (gpx file)? Thanks.

I have an enhancement request. Can we please add current time to the current position (through the Position tab on the boat information). I using qt for an IRL ocean race on the weekend and we had to report time and position several times during the race, and also record out finish time. It would be great to have this all in the same place. Thanks in advance.

Hello all,
this may be a bit special: I'm actually participating the race to Rio, using qtvlm as routing software, with brainaids fine nmea-tool (on a mac mini, with catalina running). So far so good. What if I want to attend next the next race (Dondra to Sanya) with the race to Rio still running? May I use a second installation of qtvlm (simple copy)? An what about nmea? There seems no way to assign an different IP… |

Africa by Sea 2025 - Port Said to Tangier
Back in the 7th C BCE, pharaoh Necho II may have commissioned Phoenician sailors to explore south down the Red Sea and if possible return north via the Straits of Gibraltar. Herodotus was inclined to dismiss the story as it included reports of the sun standing in the north, which had to be nonsense. Silly old Herodotus, but who cares, 2800 years later we will repeat the feat, but we’ll go the other way round, and not in a galley but in different modern sailing yachts, beginning with the comfort of an IY 14.98 for the first leg of 1900nm from Port Said to Tangier.

Aden to Goa 2025
Europeans are primarily acquainted with the historical narrative of how spices reached their continent from distant regions. However, the spice trade from Goa to Aden predates the modern era, as detailed in this article. Sailonline is now reversing this route, organizing an eastbound yacht race of approximately 1700 nautical miles across the Arabian Sea for our 21st-century Archer 78 yachts. Wishing you fair winds and may the enticing aroma of spices guide you safely to your destination!

Lake Namtso Ice Race
To kick off our annual Ice Yachting Series, we will travel to Tibet and to one of the World’s highest lakes, Namtso, the “Heavenly Lake”, at an altitude of 4720m. Just fly to Gonggar Airport via Kathmandu, and get a taxi to Lhasa where the Dali Lama lives, then hire a truck with guide to take you and your DN and gear a further 200km north across the Nyenchen Tanglha mountains to Xianga where a 95nm triangle will be beaconed out on the ice for your enjoyment. Although like most of the Tibetan lakes, Namtso is a saline sump with no outflows, rest assured it is bitter cold there and ice is guaranteed. Mind the monks, you’ve no PL!
