i just installed it on my samsung pad and it looks great :)
many thanks
Works great on my Galaxy S4, doesn't work at all on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 (the first release) - I get the same error as Dana1 which I suspect is just because the hardware in the Tab is not up to doing the job.

After comparing tracks on app and PC, the mark appears to be exactly where the rhumbline changes direction.
Installed it on my Samsung Mini3 and it works well!

Seriously good work guys. Well done and Thank You for doing this. There are times when I am away from a pc either at work or at home and I need to make a key move. Although the mini client worked it had obvious drawbacks.

Big round of applause! I think I should donate some more money to Sailonline in lieu of payment!!!!

George
Just installed on a Nexus 7 and a Samsung Galaxy S4 mini.
Working on both so far . Great development Cheers Guys !
It's great to hear that a lot of you have found the Android client usefull :)
About the course markers... Well there are non right now so the only way to know where to turn is by looking at where the course line turns. It should be at the position of where the marker should have been. I will probably add some kind of dot or something there in the future to mark it better.

I'm sorry to hear that there are some problems on some devices and the error you get is a standard android error for something going really bad. I can sometimes get it on my Samsung S3 if I suddenly loose internet connectivity while doing a lot of loading. Like after I click on go to race. But I suspect that the problem Dana1 has seen on the Samsung Ace 3 and Alan on the Galaxy tab 10.1 is something worse and it might have to do with hardware like lack of memory or somthing. But really it can be just about anything. I will look around and se if I can find someone I know that has one of those devices so I can debug it better.
Very nice and handly app, could replace the mobile client, (can be a deal? contact the admin and we can discuss it on the next general assembly)

Short feedback in bullets:
- Add mark with indication rounded if possible, SOLer love cutting edge
- very nice job with the polar and Max VMG downwind/upwind: Numeric value displayed somewhere would be fantastic to help to set the correct angle (yes, sometime the fight is on decimals!!)
- would be possible to set DC too? I recognize that app sholud be "lighter" but this would be nice

last but not least:
50% of my SOLing pleasure is given by the chat: would be possible to create a "chat only" page? using it now with puffing or whatever else is frustrating...

thanks for your time invested on it and to share this with us
Gilles

ps: on nokia works perfectly
So since there was a reason to get a brand new Android device I did so. Works perfect on new phone.

Thank you Zappe. Excellent work.
very nice. mobile client is obsolete now. probably google maps satellite view is very demanding on bandwidth. I'll test it on the next race :D

EDITED:

Tested for a few days. Excellent!!!
Probably an option to visualize only GSHHS data without the satellite overlay (to save traffic) would be a benefit. Maybe with some additions for tablets it can become a full featured client (polar visualization, DCs etc.)

A bit embarrassing, but I can't even log in....

I'm on an HTC One, but it's me that's the problem :-)

Africa by Sea 2025 - Suez to Port Said

When Napoleon (briefly) occupied Egypt at the turn to the 19th C, he ordered his expedition’s Directeur des Ponts et Chaussées, Jacques-Marie Le Père, to evaluate the ancient, derelict, infilled course of a Ptolemaic canal connecting the Red Sea to the Nile via the Great Bitter Lake, versus a new canal to the Mediterranean directly. Neither were considered feasible – locks to climb a pauvre-surveyed 10m sea-level difference, or continuous dredging of the Nile, would both be equally financially prohibitive. Fifty years passed before the unlikeliness of Le Père’s survey finding was challenged and a French Compagnie Universelle du Canal Maritime de Suez obtained a 99-year concession from the Khedive of Egypt, Said Pasha, to construct and operate a canal from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean, much against the will of the Ottoman Sultan, Abdulmecid I (the Pasha’s nominal overlord), and the wishes of the (Irish) British prime minister, Lord Palmerston. The year was 1859, the very number of this race (planning, dear boy, planning!), which, despite the canal’s double-super-tanker gauge and lack of locks, is strictly prohibited IRL. 85nm in Fareast 28Rs to complete your circumnavigation of Africa!

Sinbad by Balloon 2025 - Carnarvon to Dondra

From here, our home in Bharatavarṣa is now north west of us – said Sinbad to his fellow balloonists. Perhaps we can ride the wind first further north, and then catch the winds that every year bring the rain, perhaps not. It’s 2600nm and we could be aloft awhile, so, Master el-Quarters, victuals only, no sandbags, provisioning the giant hamper. It will be not a picnic!
